Cultural Costs

Cultural Costs are those costs that are a result of a stimulus that goes against an individual or a society's cultural aspects. The stimulus could be anything from food to people to an idea.

The act of buying and selling kidneys includes cultural costs as selling of organs might be against one's cultural values.

These costs are perspective-dependent and individual. These costs may be different for different groups of people; countries, states, ethnicities, etc. The term allows for a clear and understandable way of representing the concept of contextual stigma in a literal and applicable sense.

Relevance to War
The wars that we have witnessed in the past or the ones that we are witnessing presently are fought around people or communities. These people are embedded in different cultural values. These cultural values are therefore prone to be affected.

As many would argue, war has severe impact on culture and therefore war should be avoided. However, some really do not mind sacrificing cultural costs for winning battles that may eventually support a new culture altogether.

As a coin has both sides, this argument too has people on both sides.
